Folks, it’s THAT DAY – I was born on a FRIDAY. ADDITIONALLY, it is the day we meet here to discuss critical Safety and Security. matters.

You may have heard of the well-worn catch phrase “we are social beings.” And it’s as correct today, as it was donkey years ago. The fact that we are human, means chiefly that our social, if even economic activities that assures our survival entails that we move around and interact with others and within various spaces (environment). Even the most unsocial, introverted amongst us still do share in the grand human socialization.

It is upon this alter that safety and security considerations are looked at as humans’ socialization imperatives. Tie that into how the environments – public spaces, establishments, premises, workplaces, commercial centers play to affect the same hence Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). The strategy is aimed at manipulating the built up spaces to create a safer environment through engaging: Natural Surveillance; Natural Access Control; Territorial Reinforcement and; Maintenance.
