Against the backdrop of the “3rd Wave” which has seen thousands get infected and scores dying every day, Kenya (as directed by President Uhuru in his address to the nation on Friday, 26th March 2021) has yet again been subjected to highly stringent health protocols that has seen five counties that have high infection rate in yet another lockdown. All this is aimed at giving ourselves another shot at effectively fighting the raging infections, and to hopefully beat this pandemic or at least reduce its spread to a manageable level.
On the 6th of March 2021, a little while before the presidential address, the Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine was brought into the country. Officials have been concerned by its slow uptake by the populace because people are skeptical about getting vaccinated, fairly much because of scaremongering, propaganda and disinformation that’s permeated the psyche of the citizenry. THE VACCINE IS SAFE! I can still sing in the shower barely 5 hours after getting my jab

Having contracted the virus in NOVEMBER 2020, I KNOW for certain that COVID-19 exists. I had very mild symptoms though. I am in the frontline, YES, but I may as well argue that I’m too fit to get adversely affected ever. BUT I CHOOSE NOT, this lazy path. So I elected to get vaccinated TODAY on the 26th March, 2021 at 1644 hrs.

See, it takes COURAGE to LEAD the way. If this vaccine is going to kill me, I AM READY TO PAY THE PRICE with TRUST that, with this step, the fair exchange that OTHERS may survive because I am better off VACCINATED. By getting vaccinated and with relative immunity, we pay dividends to reduced probability of passing the virus to the next person who may be more at RISK and susceptible to getting adversely affected and/or get killed if infected by COVID-19 than “us”!
Overall, the vaccine is the surest way to BEAT THE COVID-19 and usher all of us to “HERD IMMUNITY”. Temporary pain, and some small price to pay by ADHERING TO THE HEALTH PROTOCOLS with utmost discipline NOW, is a FAIR EXCHANGE for the FREEDOM we shall have later, if enjoy when this bad cloud is ALL GONE and behind us!
